She is expected to continue as ODI captain, and BCB president Tamim Iqbal has accepted her decision.
Nigar formally informed the board of her decision in a letter from Japan on Tuesday.
Nigar has led Bangladesh in T20Is since 2022. Her tenure included a notable win over Scotland at the 2024 T20 World Cup, while she also contributed 104 runs and seven dismissals in the tournament.
