Batting first after Indonesia elected to field, Bangladesh posted 129 for 8 in their 20 overs.
Sobhana Mostary anchored the innings with a composed 40 off 42 balls, while Shorna Akter provided the late acceleration with an unbeaten 31 off just 18 balls, hitting three fours and a six.
Dilara Akter also contributed 27 from 31 deliveries.
Indonesia’s Ni Ariani was their most successful bowler, taking 3 for 28, while Ni Luh Dewi claimed two wickets.
In reply, Indonesia struggled to build any momentum and were bowled out for just 58 in 17.3 overs.
Their chase never got going as Bangladesh’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings.
Nahida Akter led the attack with an excellent 3 for 15 from four overs, while Marufa Akter returned impressive figures of 2 for 6 from three overs.
Sanjida Akter Meghla and Fahima Khatun took one wicket each, with Bangladesh also benefiting from three run-outs.
Indonesia’s top scorer was Maria Corazon, who made 12, while no other batter managed to reach double figures beyond Rahmawati Pangestuti and Ni Luh Dewi, who both scored nine.
Bangladesh wrapped up the victory when Dara Paramitha was run out for three in the 18th over, completing a 71-run win and making a strong start to their Group B campaign.
Bangladesh will next face Sri Lanka on September 6, followed by the UAE on September 8.
