Australia have confirmed their playing XI for the second Test against Bangladesh in Mackay, with Matthew Renshaw returning to the top order as the hosts look to level the two-match series.

Renshaw comes into the side as the only change from the team that suffered a nine-wicket defeat in Darwin. He returns to Test cricket for the first time since 2023 and will open the batting alongside Travis Head.

Australia have also opted to retain veteran spinner Nathan Lyon, resisting the temptation to bring Scott Boland into the attack.

The hosts will be desperate for a response after Bangladesh dominated the opening Test in Darwin and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

Australia XI: Matthew Renshaw, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Beau Webster, Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
