Tanzid Hasan Tamim has made a significant leap in the latest ICC Test batting rankings after his memorable century against Australia in Darwin.

Playing only his second Test, Tanzid scored a century against Australia’s pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. He also became the first Bangladesh batter to score a Test century in Australia.

Despite being dismissed for a duck in the second innings, his first-innings hundred helped him climb 84 places to 88th, level with Curtis Campher.

Najmul Hossain Shanto also enjoyed a career-best ranking after scoring 84 in the first innings. The Bangladesh captain moved up nine places to 20th, with 659 rating points.

Only Mushfiqur Rahim, ranked 18th, is ahead of him among Bangladesh batters.

Litton Das, meanwhile, slipped five places to 28th after failing to score in the first innings.

Mominul Haque moved up five places to 31st after contributing 49 in the first innings and an unbeaten 30 in the second. Shadman Islam also climbed three places to 58th.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who scored 65 and played a key role with both bat and ball, rose five places to 59th among Test batters.

The biggest rise among Bangladesh’s bowlers came from Hasan Mahmud. After taking nine wickets in the Darwin Test, including 6 for 55 in the first innings and 3 for 56 in the second, the fast bowler jumped 26 places to 38th in the Test bowling rankings. Taskin Ahmed moved up one place, while Ebadot Hossain climbed four.

Mehidy also moved up three places to 24th among Test bowlers after claiming five wickets in the second innings. Taijul Islam remains Bangladesh’s highest-ranked bowler at 11th.

Despite his half-century and five-wicket haul in Darwin, Mehidy remained third in the Test all-rounder rankings.

At the top of the batting rankings, England’s Harry Brook overtook teammate Joe Root to take first place, while India’s Jasprit Bumrah retained the No. 1 spot among Test bowlers.
