The incident took place in the 39th over of Pakistan’s innings when Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz came on to bowl. On the fourth delivery of the over, Mohammad Rizwan drove the ball straight back towards the bowler. Miraz stopped the ball with his foot, leaving it near the pitch.
At the non-striker’s end, Agha was outside his crease with the ball lying close to both players. As Agha bent down to hand the ball back to the bowler, Miraz quickly grabbed it and threw it onto the stumps. The decision was referred to the third umpire, who ruled Agha run out.
Frustrated by the dismissal, Agha threw his helmet to the ground in anger. The Pakistan batter continued to vent his frustration while walking back to the pavilion and was seen smashing his gear again near the boundary line.
Match referee Naeemur Rashid later sanctioned Agha for “abuse of cricket equipment.” In addition to the official reprimand, one demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record.
As Agha admitted the offence, no formal hearing was required. This is his first demerit point for a code of conduct breach in the past two years.
