Bangladesh cruised to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Pakistan in the first ODI, chasing down a modest target of 115 in just 15.1 overs.

Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim led the charge with a blistering unbeaten 67 off 42 balls, smashing five sixes and seven fours to guide the hosts to a comfortable win.

Bangladesh got off to a flying start in the chase, scoring 10 runs in the opening over and adding 15 more in the next against Faheem Ashraf.

However, Saif Hassan was dismissed early for 4 off 10 balls, caught at point by Shamyl Hussain off the bowling of Shaheen Shah Afridi.

After the early setback, Najmul Hossain Shanto joined Tanzid at the crease and the pair added a brisk 51-run partnership off just 38 balls. Tanzid reached his fifth ODI fifty in just 32 deliveries, maintaining the aggressive momentum.

Shanto contributed 27 from 33 balls before being caught by Mohammad Rizwan off Mohammad Wasim Jr with victory in sight. Tanzid then finished the chase alongside Litton Das (3*) as Bangladesh sealed the win with ease to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Earlier, fast bowler Nahid Rana starred with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 24 runs to rip through Pakistan’s top order.

He removed debutants Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat and Shamyl before also dismissing Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha.

Pakistan struggled to build partnerships as wickets fell regularly. Farhan was the top scorer among the top order with 27, while Faheem provided some resistance with a 47-ball 37 to push the total past 100.

Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz supported Rana well with 3 for 29, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman took a wicket each.

Pakistan eventually folded for 114, leaving Bangladesh a modest target in the series opener.
