Muzarabani’s decision to back out of a binding PSL deal to participate in the IPL has reportedly angered the PCB, which is exploring legal options over what it views as a breach of contract.
This is the second consecutive year an overseas player has left a PSL contract for an IPL opportunity.
Last season, South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch exited his deal with Peshawar Zalmi to join Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for Lizaad Williams. Bosch was later handed a one-year ban from the PSL for breaching his contract.
However, the PCB is reportedly considering a stricter punishment in Muzarabani’s case.
The Zimbabwe fast bowler has previously featured in three PSL seasons, claiming 21 wickets. Although he has yet to play an IPL match, Muzarabani was part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad during their title-winning 2025 campaign.
Recently, the three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders signed the 29-year-old as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, who was released from the squad following a recommendation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
