The appointment was announced through the Kingsmen Cricket social media platform, accompanied by the message: “Vision clear. Direction locked. Entering a New Era. Jason Gillespie takes charge as Head Coach of Hyderabad.”
Gillespie, now 50, was previously involved with Pakistan cricket, having been named head coach of the national Test side in April 2024, while Gary Kirsten oversaw the white-ball teams.
However, Gillespie stepped down from the role in December 2024, just before Pakistan’s two-match Test series against South Africa, amid reports of differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and difficulties coordinating with team management.
The upcoming PSL season will be historic, expanding from six to eight teams for the first time, with Hyderabad and Sialkot joining as new franchises.
PCB has announced that the PSL 11 Player Auction will take place on February 11.
