Bangladesh U-23 squad named for Malaysia ODI series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the first two ODIs of the three-match series against Malaysia, with several members of the 2026 Bangladesh U-19 World Cup squad earning places in the newly formed Bangladesh Under-23 setup.

The U-23 team has been created alongside the High Performance (HP) programme to strengthen Bangladesh's national-team pipeline and ensure promising youth players continue to develop after graduating from age-group cricket.

Following the two-match T20I series between Malaysia and the HP team, the U-23 side will take on Malaysia in three ODIs at the Bashundhara Sports Complex on August 12, 14 and 16. The first two matches will start at 9:30am Bangladesh time.

Zawad Abrar, who featured in the T20I series, has also been included in the U-23 squad. Other members of Bangladesh's recent U-19 World Cup squad in the team include Sheikh Parvez Jibon, Rizan Hossain, Shadhin Islam, Mohammad Abdullah, Kalam Siddiqui Alin and Rifat Beg, while former standby Abdur Rahim has also been selected.

Debashish Sarkar Deba, who represented Bangladesh at youth-level Asia Cup and bilateral series, is also part of the squad.

Kalam Siddiqui Aleen will captain the Bangladesh U-23 side, with Moinul Islam Tanmoy, Farid Hasan Faisal, Khalid Hasan, Nuhaeil Sandid and Rafiuzzaman Rafi named as standbys.
