Shakib grabs Soumya's wicket as Rangpur post 158-5

Nurul Hasan Sohan plays a shot
Rangpur Riders overcame early setbacks to post a competitive 158 for 5 in their innings against Dubai in the Global Super League, thanks to a powerful finish led by captain Nurul Hasan Sohan and all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Rangpur had a shaky start. Dominic Drakes removed Ibrahim Zadran in the very first over with a sharp in-swinging delivery that trapped him leg-before.

Despite a brief counterattack where Soumya Sarkar and Kyle Mayers smashed three sixes off Kaleem Sana in one over, the momentum didn’t last long.
Mayers fell for 19 (11 balls, 2 sixes, 1 four) trying to clear long-on, while Mahidul Ankon (11 off 15) was dismissed attempting an aerial shot off Qais Ahmad.

Soumya looked promising with a 36-run knock off 29 balls (4 sixes), but he too perished trying to sweep Shakib Al Hasan, giving a catch to Sediqullah Atal.
Shakib: Love for the game hasn’t faded

Shakib was the most economical among Dubai bowlers, giving away just 16 runs in 4 overs and picking up the key wicket of Soumya. Gulbadin Naib, Dominic Drakes, Rohan Mustafa, and Qais Ahmad chipped in with a wicket each.
With a decent total on the board, Rangpur now look to defend and seal their place in the GSL final.
