Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan Sohan
Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan Sohan is staying grounded and focused on the bigger goal — reaching the final of the Global Super League 2025 — despite his team’s thrilling one-run win over BBL champions Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday.

The high-voltage clash in Guyana saw the Riders defend a tight total of 151 in a tense finish, but Sohan made it clear after the match that the journey isn’t over yet.

Rangpur still have two group stage games left, and their captain is keen to ensure the team doesn’t lose sight of the ultimate target.
“I think we need to play well in the next two matches as well to reach the final. There’s a long way to go. We got two matches and obviously, the final we are looking for, In Sha Allah.” Sohan said after the match.

While the narrow win was cause for celebration, Sohan was quick to highlight the collective effort, especially from the bowlers who were crucial in the final overs. He praised the performances of key bowlers who made a difference in crunch moments.

“Shamsi is our main bowler. Ifti [Iftekhar] bhai bowled really well. Khaled Ahmed and Omarzai also bowled really well in the end,” he said, pointing to the teamwork that helped Rangpur defend the modest total.
The final stages of the match were particularly intense, with Rangpur's bowlers holding their nerve as Hobart came dangerously close to snatching victory. Sohan revealed the tactical discussions that took place in those final overs, which helped them hold off the chase.
“Me, Omarzai and Ifti bhai discussed a lot. I think it’s hard to hit the ball if you bowl a little bit slower,” he explained, referring to the strategy of varying pace to keep the batters guessing.
