Bangladesh have etched their name into the history books with a commanding victory in the third and final T20I, sealing their first-ever bilateral T20 series win on Sri Lankan soil.

In a tense, low-scoring contest in Colombo, the Tigers held their nerve to outplay the hosts by eight wickets and take the series 2-1.

Earlier, Mahedi made a stunning return to the playing XI, dismantling Sri Lanka’s batting lineup with a sensational four-wicket haul in the third and final T20I of the series.
His spell, backed by a disciplined bowling effort from the Tigers, restricted Sri Lanka to 132 for 7 despite a late surge in the death overs.
Put into bat, Sri Lanka were rocked early by pacer Shoriful Islam, who removed Kusal Mendis for 6 in the opening over.

Mahedi soon joined the party, trapping Kusal Perera for a duck and then running through the middle order by dismissing Dinesh Chandimal (4), Charith Asalanka (3), and the well-set opener Pathum Nissanka, who top-scored with 46 off 39 balls, hitting four boundaries.

At 66/5 in 10.3 overs, the visitors were in deep trouble. Part-time spinner Shamim Hossain struck to remove Kamindu Mendis, who had threatened a counter-attack with 21 off 15 balls.
Sri Lanka’s innings was later revived by former skipper Dasun Shanaka, whose unbeaten 35 off 25 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes) helped push the score past 130.
However, the final over proved costly for Bangladesh as Shoriful leaked 22 runs to undo some of the earlier damage.
He finished with 1 for 50 in 4 overs, despite taking the first wicket of the innings. The star of the show, Mahedi Hasan, returned with remarkable figures of 4 for 11 in 4 overs.
Mustafizur Rahman was economical as ever, conceding just 17 runs and taking 1 wicket in his 4 overs. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain (4-0-20-0) and seamer Tanzim Hasan Sakib (4-0-23-0) kept the pressure tight throughout.
