Bangladesh U-19 take triumph against Afghanistan in first ODI

In the first ODI of the five-match series against Afghanistan U-19 team, the hosts Bangladesh U-19 won by 16 runs in Sylhet. Captain Sulaiman Safi has scored the highest 48 runs for the Afghan team. Tiger pacer Ripon Mandal took 4 wickets for 20 runs.

Bangladesh U-19 captain Mehrab Hasan won the toss and elected to bat first. At the end of the first innings, Young Tigers managed to score only 154 runs in 38.3 overs.

The Tigers, who lost two wickets at the start of the innings, tried to cope with the disaster by relying on the bat of opener Prantik Nawrose Nabil. 42 runs came from Nabil's bat.

In the end, the Tigers reached 154 runs with a commendable knock from the captain Mehrab Hossain, who scored 49 runs. Bilal Sami took four wickets for the Afghan youth.

The visitors lost the wicket of opener Suliman Arabzai at the beginning but then captain Suliman Safi added 41 runs to the scoreboard with Ijaz Ahmed in the second wicket partnership. Ijaz returned for 18 runs but Safi was in a great rhythm.

When the Afghan captain returned to the dressing room with personal 48 runs, the team had posted 84 for 4 wickets.

After that, middles order batsman Nangeyalia Kharote tried to turn around with the bat of Kharot, but with the determination of the Tiger bowlers, the sure victory slipped out of the hands from the Afghans. 26 runs came from the bat of Kharote. Ripon Mondol took 4 wickets for 20 runs.

The two teams will take the field in the second ODI on Sunday.
