Zakir Hasan scored a maiden Test ton for Bangladesh as they reach 272-6, chasing a 513-run target at stumps on Day 4 during the ongoing first Test match against India at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Shakib al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were unbeaten on 40 and 9 runs respectively as the host still required 241 runs to win the first match of the series.
Debutant Zakir faced 217 balls to complete his century, he also emerged to be the highest runs scorer as an opener in Tests for Bangladesh. Only Mohammad Ashraful, Aminul Islam Bulbul and Abul Hasan Raju scored centuries on their debuts.

Zakir departed right after scoring his maiden ton which featured 13 boundaries and a six from 224 balls.
Earlier a 124-run stand between Zakir and Najmul Hossain Shanto helped Bangladesh to make a commanding start on the fourth day. However, Shanto departed on 67 off 156 balls early in the second session.
Bangladesh lost two more wickets as Axer Patel castled Yasir Ali Rabbi (5) and Kuldeep Yadav returned Liton Das (18), who offered an easy catch towards the long-on.
Earlier, India declared their innings on 258-2d after Cheteswar Pujara (102) and Shubman Gill (110) registered centuries.
