Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and media committee chairman Iftekhar Rahman Mithu has reaffirmed that the national team remains open to welcoming Shakib Al Hasan back at any time, stating, “The door is always open for Shakib.”

His comments come amid Shakib’s ongoing participation in the Global T20 Super League (GSL), where the star all-rounder has had a mixed start.
Naib: Players like Shakib know how to bounce back
9 hrs ago"Shakib Al Hasan is the greatest cricketer of Bangladesh. There's no second choice here. The door is always open for him. It's up to the selectors and team management; they are thinking about it..." said Mithu to the media on Saturday.
Hinting at Shakib’s potential return, "I don’t know how things were handled in the past, but now the current president has given full authority to Cricket Operations, the team management, and the selectors. They are aware of the situation. It will be reviewed. They will definitely look into this matter."
Shakib made headlines in his GSL debut for Dubai Capitals, producing a brilliant all-round performance against New Zealand’s Central Districts.

The veteran left-hander smashed an unbeaten 58 off 37 balls, then followed it up with a match-winning spell of 4 wickets for just 13 runs, helping his team secure a 22-run victory. The performance reminded fans and critics alike of his unmatched value in the shortest format.

However, in the Capitals' second match against Hobart Hurricanes, Shakib failed to make an impact. With the bat, he managed only 7 runs off 10 balls, falling to Mohammad Nabi, and was wicketless in his four overs, conceding 34 runs. Dubai were outplayed, suffering a 7-wicket defeat.
Despite the recent ups and downs, Shakib’s presence in high-profile leagues like the GSL continues to keep him in the national conversation.
His performances are closely watched as Bangladesh prepare for a demanding international calendar, including the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC events.
