Bangladesh national team regular jersey supplier Sports and Sports Design is working to change the fabric of the trouser so that the bowlers can bring shining back to the ball by rubbing it while bowling.

Due to the saliva ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in fear of the dreadful COVID-19 contagion, it has been a major concern for the bowlers and the cricket fraternity as well about how they will bring back the shining of the ball instead of the usage of saliva.

People and sports manufacturers from many corners of the world have suggested ICC to many things as an alternative to saliva. For example, Australian sports manufacturer Kookaburra suggested the use of wax over the ball to shine, but the ICC specialized committee did not pursue it. They were strict to their own planning to ban the use of saliva during the period of the life-threatening virus contagion.

But rubbing the ball over the trouser has not been indicated as an issue by the cricket’s topmost global authority. In this case, the national team regular jersey supplier Sports and Sports Design head Mehtab Anwar Ahmed came up with a novel idea to make a change in the fabric of the trouser which can be used by the players to shine the ball.

“We have already started thinking and working on the issue. Special fabrics for trousers are being brought from Thailand experimentally. We will work when it comes, we will get a result in a month. Usually, we need to use a very smooth fabric or cloth on the trousers to hold the shine of the ball,” Mehtab Anwar said.

“The type of fabric that is being used now is a little rough. Rubbing the bowl can reduce its shine. So we will work with a new kind of fabric. In the meantime, we have placed an order with a Thai company. The moment they will send, we will work on it for a month,” Mehtab said to a Bengali daily.

However, whatever fabric is used for trousers, ICC approval will be required to use it on the field. It remains to be seen how comfortable cricketers will be able to play in the new fabric trousers.

“Our first task is to make the cricketers feel comfortable in jerseys and trousers. Then we have to think about increasing the shine in it,” Mehtab added

“Once the work starts, it will take about a month to see its effectiveness. Then there will be a matter of ICC and BCB approval,” he concluded.
