Quality finger spinner is better than substandard wrist spinner: Rhodes

Bangladesh's head coach Steve Rhodes clarified that the shortage of quality wrist spinners back in the country prompted them not to go with for this option despite knowing that a leg-spinner can be handy in this condition.
Rhodes rather was happy with the quality finger spinners he has, like Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraj.
“We have two excellent finger spinners, top quality spinner and I very much rather go into the game with top quality bowlers than maybe somebody who is substandard not quite up to that level but a wrist spinner,” Rhodes said.
Rhodes is pretty happy with their performance up until now, and he doesn’t want to include anyone just because he is a wrist spinner.
“If we had a very good wrist spinner in Bangladesh, I am pretty sure he would be here. But we can’t pick people just for the sack of it,” he added.
Rhodes also mentioned that for becoming successful it’s not necessary to have wrist spinners.
Some teams don’t have wrist spinners in their squad but still doing well in this World Cup and Rhodes gave New Zealand as an example.
He said, they have Ish Sodhi in their squad but haven’t played any match yet.
“Some of the team, they have not always been playing a wrist spinner. They have had one there, New Zealand is a good example of that.”
Rhodes believes it's important to select playing eleven according to the condition and he has confidence on the finger spinners of Bangladesh that they will do well in this World Cup.
“You play your best eleven for that game those conditions and with all these finger spinners. They are good finger spinners and we are very confident about their abilities and what they can do,” Rhodes remarked.
