Bangladesh cricketer Jaker Ali Anik spoke with confidence ahead of the 2025 Asia Cup, making it clear before leaving the country that the team is not traveling merely to participate but with the ambition of winning the title.
In this year’s tournament, Bangladesh has been placed in Group ‘B’ alongside Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. Winning at least two out of the three matches will secure them a place in the Super Four stage.

Speaking to the media at the airport before departure, Jaker said, “We are going with the aim of becoming champions. The preparation has been very good, and the entire team is in a positive mindset, which will definitely reflect in our performance.”
He further emphasized the team’s step-by-step approach to each fixture, stating that consistency will be the key to success: “We’ll try to perform well in every match, one step at a time. For that, we’ve had solid preparation.”
Ultimately, the main goal remains to lift the trophy, and Jaker highlighted the team’s mental readiness as a crucial factor: “We truly believe we can be champions. That’s the mindset we’re carrying.”

Jaker also praised batting coach Julian Wood, whose new methods and techniques, according to him, have given the side an extra layer of confidence. The Bangladesh team spent an extended period training under Wood before the Netherlands series.
“Julian has worked really well with us. The skills and techniques he has introduced, even the new bats and swing drills, will surely come in handy. We’ve had a very productive time under his guidance,” he added.
