The recent political shift in the country has brought changes to various sectors, including the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). In line with these developments, the board is now considering a major decision regarding the overseas medical treatment of national cricketers.

Due to political reasons, India has kept its visa services closed for Bangladeshi citizens over the past year, granting only a limited number of medical visas. This has made it increasingly difficult for BCB to send players to India for urgent treatment.

To address the situation, the board is planning to reduce its dependency on India by signing agreements with Malaysia and Thailand.
The move would enable players to obtain visas for these countries more quickly and receive timely medical care.

A reliable BCB source confirmed the matter to Cricfrenzy, stating: “The visa complications with India have been ongoing for quite some time. We want to sign medical agreements with Malaysia and Thailand so we can send players there on short notice. Discussions have already taken place, and this step is aimed at reducing our reliance on India. We hope to finalise the matter within the next few days.”

Currently, it takes around two months for cricketers to obtain an Indian medical visa. In addition, BCB is also exploring the possibility of arranging workshops in Malaysia and Thailand for its doctors and physiotherapists.
