Shakib still available for Bangladesh, confirms BCB boss

Shakib Al Hasan and Aminul Islam Bulbul
Despite his recent absence from national team selections, Shakib Al Hasan is not retired from any format of international cricket, confirmed Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam Bulbul.

Speaking to the media amidst growing calls for Shakib’s return, Bulbul stated that the all-rounder remains available for Bangladesh and the board will sit with him soon to discuss his future.
Shakib: Love for the game hasn’t faded
19 hrs ago“Shakib is an available cricketer. He has not yet retired from any format for Bangladesh. We’ll talk to him, and only after that discussion will we make a decision.” said Bulbul.
When asked whether Shakib would be recalled to the national team if discussions with him go positively, Bulbul once again placed the ball in the selectors’ court.
“I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again — this entirely depends on the selectors, who are responsible for choosing the team,” Bulbul stated.

Currently playing in the Global Super League (GSL) for Dubai Capitals, the 38-year-old has showcased his value with both bat and ball. He made a thunderous start with a match-winning all-round performance in his GSL debut, scoring an unbeaten 58 off 37 balls and taking 4 wickets for 13 runs.

Even in the matches where wickets have eluded him, Shakib has remained economical and impactful. His 4-over spell for just 21 runs against Guyana Amazon Warriors highlighted his control and tactical nous.
With Bangladesh facing key assignments in all three formats over the coming months, the timing of BCB’s decision may prove crucial. Fans, former players, and analysts have been vocal in their belief that politics, not performance, is keeping Shakib out of the team.
Now, with the BCB finally acknowledging Shakib’s availability, all eyes will be on what follows the promised meeting. One thing is certain — Shakib Al Hasan is not done yet.
