Nannu urges psychological reboot for Bangladesh players

Litton Das fails in both series as a captain
The honeymoon period for Bangladesh’s current coaching setup appears to be over, with the team enduring a rough start to its second phase under the same management.

Expectations of a strong comeback were quickly dashed as the Tigers stumbled to a 2-1 series defeat against the UAE in Sharjah — a result widely viewed as embarrassing.

A dismal showing followed that disappointment in Pakistan, where Bangladesh were whitewashed 3-0 in the T20I series.
Former national team captain Minhajul Abedin Nannu has pointed fingers at deeper issues within the squad — from poor batting displays to mental and strategic shortcomings.

Minhajul Abedin concerns about the team’s mindset, suggesting the players have lost confidence. “The pitches in Pakistan were flat with some grass, which means the ball skidded on. Technically sound batters should have been picked, and someone like Najmul Hossain Shanto could’ve done well. But the management didn’t make necessary changes — not in mindset, not in strategy,” said the former chief selector to Cricfrenzy.

He emphasized the need for a psychological reboot. “To recover, the team needs a good sports psychologist to work closely with the players. We need to identify what’s going wrong — clearly, we couldn’t bat well, not against UAE or Pakistan. On such wickets, we should’ve been scoring 225–230 runs,” Nannu added.
With a full series in Sri Lanka looming, both former skippers stressed the urgency of mentally recharging the team to avoid further decline in performance.
