DPDLT20: Shakib showcase all-round performance to seal win for Mohammedan

Mohammedan ​​Sporting Club defeated Shinepukur Cricket Club by 3 wickets in their first match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League T20 this year. Premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan shined with both bat and ball to clinch the victory.


Mohammedan chased down a small target of 126 runs set by Shinepukur and lost opener Abhishek Das in the beginning. He returned with only 1 run from Rabiul Islam’s first over. In the second wicket, Parvez Hossain Emon and Shamsur Rahman combined to pull Mohammedan's innings.


When Shamsur returned with 24 runs, Emon could not last long. He was dismissed for 39 runs. After that, Captain Shakib Al Hasan formed a partnership with Nadif Chowdhury in the 4th wicket. However, Shakib played a rush innings and got out with 29 runs from 22 balls. Shakib hit 1 six and 2 fours in this innings.

Then wicketkeeper-batsman Irfan Shukkur (1) could not last long. After a while, Nadif also returned with 20 runs off 19 balls. In the end, Abu Haider Rony scored 8 off 4 balls and Yasir Mishu scored 3 off 5 balls. With 1 ball left, he left the field after winning Mohammedan


Sumon Khan took two wickets for Shinepukur. Rabiul Islam Robi, Mohar Sheikh, Tanvir Islam and Iftekhar Sajjad got one wicket each.


Earlier, Shinepukur lost the toss and elected to bat against Mohammedan Sporting Club at Bangladesh Sports Education Institute (BKSP). Shakib and Yasser Arafat controlled the bowling and Shinepukur scored 125 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
