India’s six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super Fours in Dubai sparked as much chatter off the field as it did on it.

After Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 74 off 39 balls and Shubman Gill’s rapid 47 off 28 set up India’s chase of 172, skipper Suryakumar Yadav made headlines with his post-match remarks on the so-called “India–Pakistan rivalry.”

“You guys should stop asking about the rivalry. If the two teams are playing 15–20 games & the scoreline is 7–7 or 8–7, then it is called rivalry. If the scoreline is 10–1 or 13–0, I don’t know the exact number but this is not a rivalry anymore” Indian captain said in the post-match press conference.

India have now beaten Pakistan in back-to-back matches of this Asia Cup, first in the group stage and now in the Super Fours, underlining their dominance in recent encounters.
