Hop to Dubai and back 'not ideal' says Miller

David Miller

South Africa batsman David Miller said in an interview with Cricfrenzy that he wanted to give his bat to fast bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin during a T20I match in 2017.

Miller hit five sixes in Saifuddin’s over in the last T20I of the series. He struck the highest score of the innings and remained unbeaten on 101 off 36 deliveries.

“Looking back, I must have targeted Saifuddin, the first four balls went for six, I think it was a 19 or something in death, and I was really on the first yard, I mean, that's just the way you go. I’m set… I've got to try and take down both bowlers the 19th and the 20th as much as I can,” said Miller.

“The first one went for six and the second also went for six, and the first four bowls were actually pretty much in the slots, to be fair. So naturally they should have gone for six, and then the rest was history. The fifth one obviously, slow bouncer so that I picked up pretty late but managed to sort of mishit six though and but I didn't actually targeted him. It just so worked out that it was the 19th over,” he added.

At the end of the match, Saifuddin rushed to Miller and greeted him. The Bangladesh fast bowler praised Miller despite the losing the match. Saifuddin asked for the five-six bat from Miller. However, due to the team meeting, Miller had to leave early that day.

“I actually owe him something. I think the day will come because he actually asked me after the game he came up to me and said, Congratulations. Thanks for hitting me all over the Park, but I'd like to know if I can have your bat. I told him to wait a bit and quickly went to the dressing room to take part in the team meeting,”

“I tried to get the bat to him after the game, I and it actually never worked out because, I mean, obviously both teams split their ways and they were rushing off to the airport, but the day will come when I'll get the bat for him, it was a good Memory,” he said.
