India retain No. 1 spot in Test rankings, Bangladesh lost five points

India and New Zealand retained the top two places in the ICC men's Test rankings released on Thursday. On the other hand, Bangladesh who have lost five points remained at 9th position with 46 points on the table.


According to an ICC statement, the latest annual update eliminates results of 2017-18. The latest update rates all matches played since May 2020 at 100 per cent and those of the previous two years at 50 per cent.

India, who have an aggregate of 121 rating points, are only one point ahead of New Zealand. The two teams will face off against each other in the World Test Championship final to be held on June 18 in Southampton.


England climbed up by a place after their 4-0 defeat to Australia in 2017-18 was dropped from the rankings in the latest update.


Pakistan have gained three points and remained at fifth spot after their 2-0 win against Zimbabwe, West Indies moved from eighth to sixth place win against Bangladesh and draw with Sri Lanka earlier this year.


South Africa and Sri Lanka have both dropped to seventh and eighth place, respectively, followed by Bangladesh has lost five points after series defeat against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe ranked at number ten.
