ACC targets September for Asia Cup

Amid rising optimism, ACC targets September for Asia Cup
There is growing hope that the Asia Cup 2025 will go ahead as planned, despite recent political tensions between India and Pakistan. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, according to Cricbuzz the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) may finalise the decision and announce the tournament schedule in early July.

If all goes well, the Asia Cup, which will be played in the T20 format, is expected to start on September 10. The six participating teams will be India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and the UAE.
The tournament had been in doubt after a terror attack in Pahalgam in April, followed by India’s Operation Sindoor in May. There were even calls in India to boycott Pakistan in international tournaments. India and Pakistan also don’t play bilateral series due to political issues.
However, recent signs show things may be improving. The ICC recently announced schedules for two women’s tournaments — the Women’s ODI World Cup and the Women’s T20 World Cup — both of which include India vs Pakistan matches. This suggests that the two countries will still face each other in multinational events.

The UAE is currently the most likely host, although a hybrid format is still being discussed. Since India was supposed to host the tournament, and due to political concerns, the ACC had earlier decided that tournaments hosted by India or Pakistan should be held in neutral venues.
Some early promotional activities for the tournament have already started. If the ACC makes a final decision in July, fans can expect an official schedule release shortly afterward.
