Bangladesh continue their battle in the first Test against Sri Lanka, ending Day 2 with a commanding total of 484 for 9. After resuming on 292 for 3, the day began with overnight batters Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim at the crease.

Shanto, who had finished Day 1 unbeaten on 136, looked solid early on but was dismissed for 148, just two runs short of a potential 150. However, a solid partnership between Mushfiqur and Litton Das steadied the innings.

“He had a badly swollen finger and still chose to bat. Shanto is a mentally tough character. After all the criticism and trolling, the way he has kept his head straight and performed — I don’t think many players can do that in the long run. He has shown true leadership qualities, and that will be a big example for the younger players.” Salahuddin said.
