At a press conference on Tuesday, Marshall declared: “I am here to work with the president and the board, mainly to oversee the Integrity Unit. Since the early 2000s, Bangladesh cricket has been at the top level. Fans strongly believe in what they see on the field. Both men’s and women’s cricketers who represent the country strive to keep the game free from corruption. But there is always a risk, and safeguards need to be strengthened, because corrupt elements across the world look for opportunities. They try to approach players to ensure they don’t perform well.”
“I want to make sure that all male and female cricketers representing Bangladesh remain protected. I have spoken with the president, CEO, and board members, and they have assured me of their full support. We will restructure the Integrity Unit. Our goal is to educate everyone so that they know what to do, become aware, and ensure that corrupt individuals cannot find any opportunity.” Marshall added.

In recent days, discussions around corruption in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) have dominated the country’s sporting headlines. Taking on his new role, Marshall expressed determination to make the BPL corruption-free.

“Franchise leagues are being played everywhere now, and that gives corrupt individuals easy access. BPL is a popular league. Everything here must be high-standard, professional, and secure. Every franchise league in the world should be safeguarded, and I will work to ensure that in the BPL” he said.
