In the Magura-1 constituency, the Awami League's candidate for the first time in the area is Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of the national cricket team. He has spent the entire Wednesday engaged in various activities.
Shakib reached Magura by road with a car procession at 12 p.m. Thousands of people gathered in the area of Gourai Setu, known as the gateway to the southern-western region of the country, to express their support and make their requests to him.
From there, covering a distance of about 12 kilometers, it takes him almost two hours to reach Magura town. During this time, on both sides of the road, party leaders and workers, along with thousands of supporters and well-wishers, gather in large numbers.
After reaching Magura, Shakib first went to the Awami League's party office as he spoke with party leaders and workers.
Expressing gratitude to the leaders, workers, and supporters, he said at the district Awami League office, "I have been playing international cricket for 17 years. I have received appreciation many times, but the appreciation I am receiving this time is bigger than anything in my life."
The 12th general election will be on January 7, 2024.
