Pakistan U-19 thrash Bangladesh in one-day series opener

Bangladesh U-19 have started their five match one-day series with a huge defeat against Pakistan as the young Tigers lost by 9 wickets at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram Saturday.

The hosts were stopped at 165 runs by the Pakistan’s firing bowling. The visitors chased that target in just 37.2 overs with the loss of 1 wicket only.

Pakistan came close to victory with the help of fantastic opening pair. Two openers Azan Awais and Shahzaib Khan made a partnership of 148 runs.

Shahzaib was dismissed when Pakistan only needed 18 runs for victory. This young Pakistani cricketer missed the century for only 17 runs. He finished his 83 runs innings with 7 fours and 3 sixes off 116 balls.

However, Azan remained unbeaten with 69 runs as he composed his innings with 6 fours and 1 six off 100 balls. Shamyl Hossain was unbeaten on three runs.

Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi took the only wicket among the Bangladeshi bowlers.

Earlier, Bangladesh got off to a bad start after losing the toss and being invited to bat.

Bangladesh lost 5 top order batters for just 41 runs, thanks to Pakistani pacer Amir Hassan’s dominating bowling.

Among the first five batters, only Adil Bin Siddique reached double figures (23).

Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby, who dropped to number seven, managed to fight back. He scored a fighting 70 runs as he completed his innings with 8 fours and 2 sixes off 100 balls.

Among the Pakistani bowlers, Amir took 5 wickets for 24 runs. Besides, Mohammad Ismail, Ali Asfand, Aimal Khan, Obaid Shahid took one wicket each.
