Sohan fined, Haris Rauf warned for Code of Conduct breach

Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hassan Sohan was fined 30 percent of his match fees while the team’s fast bowler Haris Rauf received an official reprimand for respective Level 1 breaches of the BCB Code of Conduct.

The players was penalised for CoC violations during yesterday’s Ispahani Bangladesh Premier League T20 2023 match between Rangpur and Sylhet Strikers at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Nurul and Pakistan paceman Rauf were both found in breach of Article 2.8 of the BCB Code of Conduct for Players which refers to showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during a match.

In addition to the fines, two (02) demerit points were added to the disciplinary record of Nurul taking his total demerit points in the tournament to three (03). Rauf was also handed one (01) demerit point.

Pursuant to Article 7.5 of the Code of Conduct, if either player reach four (4) or more demerit points in the tournament, these points will be converted into match suspension, and the player will be banned. Four demerit points equate to a one (01) match ban.

The players admitted their offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Match Referee Debabrata Paul and as such, no formal hearing was required.

On-field umpires Gazi Sohel and Prageeth Rambukwella, third umpire Tanvir Ahmed and fourth official Ali Arman Rajon levelled the charges.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points
