Bangladesh team director Khaled Mahmud Sujon hailed batter Liton Das for his batting, saying that he never seemed to be under any pressure while facing New Zealand seamers.

Liton missed out a ton but played a knock of 86 runs off 177 with skipper Mominul Haque (88) to aid Bangladesh post 401 for six and with a 73-run lead at the end of the day. This is also the first time the Tigers took lead against New Zealand outside Asia.

"Everyone batted really well. Liton batted as his natural self. He batted the way he always does. His batting is always good to watch and it never seemed like he was under pressure. How easily he negotiated the pacers and as well as the spinners was absolutely brilliant," said Sujon at the press conference on Monday.

After a disappointing showing at the T20 World Cup last year, Liton was highly criticized and he was even removed from the T20 side.

However, Liton has been among the most run-scorer in Tests. In the previous series against Pakistan, he scored his first Test century. Sujon believes he proved his capabilities against the formidable Blackcaps.

"There was a pressure on him since underperforming in the [T20] World Cup as he could not score runs in that tournament. But we know how capable he is. He has always scored less than what he is capable of but today he was just brilliant and eye-soothing," he added.
