Comilla Victorians have roped Mustafizur Rahman for the latest edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Comilla franchise owner Nafisa Kamal revealed that if there was an opportunity, they would have included Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi in the team.

Due to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and BPL being played at the same time, Pakistani cricketers will not be seen in this year's edition of the tournament.

"If I had the option to choose a foreign cricketer, I would have put Shaheen Afridi in the team," Nafisa stated in an interview with Cricfrenzy. However, because there was no possibility, we signed Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, and Sunil Narine outside of the draft.

The franchises are getting a chance to include a maximum of three foreign cricketers. Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis will be seen on the field in this year's BPL.

Meanwhile, English all-rounder Moeen Ali and Caribbean star Narine will play in the eighth edition of the BPL for the two-time champions.

The six-team-based marquee event will begin on January 21. The final of the tournament is scheduled on 18 February. The Player Draft of BPL 2022 will be held on 27 December.

Dhaka, Sylhet, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Cumilla respectively will take part in the 34-match-long tournament which will be staged in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet.
