South and Central Zone win the BCL opener

BCB South Zone vs Islami Bank East Zone

BCB South Zone clinch a comprehensive 8-wicket victory over Islami Bank East Zone during the league matches of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Cricket League at Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium (SKS), Rajshahi on Wednesday.

Chasing only 90 runs on the fourth day, Towhid Hridoy smashed half-century to secure the first win in the BCL for South Zone. Hridoy scored 54 off 60 with 7 fours and a six and Amite Hasan was unbeaten on 19.

Earlier, East Zone scored 257 in their second innings with overnight batters Afif Hossain hitting the highest 86 runs and Irfan Shukkur 40.

While right-arm spinner Nahidul Islam bagged four wickets for the South Zone. Zakir Hossain was adjudged as the player of the match for his 158 runs in the first innings for the side.

BCB North Zone vs Walton Central Zone

BCB North Zone were all out for 274 in their second innings against Walton Central Zone to lose the second Test by an innings and 70 runs in Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Wednesday.

North Zone resumed Day 5 on 172 for 5 wickets and managed to add 102 runs before being dismissed. Marshall Ayub was the highest scorer of the innings for North Zone with 101 off 246 with 14 boundaries.

However, Hasan Murad took 6 wickets for Central Zone after bowling 45 overs leaking 74 runs.

North Zone were earlier bowled out for 219 in reply to Central Zone’s 563 runs for three declared in the first innings.
