Bangladesh cricketers are having a tough time being in the mandatory quarantine after reaching Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday.

Tigers have to quarantine for seven days in the team hotel then the 20-member squad will undergo Covid test to begin their practice in New Zealand.

In a video message, the team director of the national team Khaled Mahmud Sujon said, “Today is the first day of our quarantine. After waking up and having breakfast, the doctor was there to check our fever. After we arrived here, everyone went to their room. Then we haven’t seen each other, except communicating on the video call,”

"Everything else is fine. We have been going through tough times since the Pakistan series. I think we will have to wait for another 2-3 days, then we will be able to practice, gym and train as a group. Then everything will be fine,” he added.

Bangladesh till date has played hosts New Zealand in nine Tests, 13 ODIs and four T20s, and has never won one.

Bangladesh will play two warm-up matches after completing the mandatory quarantine. The first Test match will start on January 1, following that the second and final Test of the series will start on January 9 in Christchurch.
