The play of the third day of the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla national cricket stadium was abandoned due to persistent rain and wet outfield.

The day was called off early by the umpires at 2:00 pm without a single ball being bowled in two sessions.

The game is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am tomorrow, in an attempt to squeeze in a maximum of 98 overs in the day.

Due to persistent rain throughout the morning, the match referee Neeyamur Rashid has asked both the teams to stay in the hotel.

On Sunday, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam who hit a fifty on the opening day carried the innings to 71 runs and Azhar Ali completed his half-century and was unbeaten on 52 runs.

The overnight batters added 118 runs for the unbroken third-wicket stand as the visitors put on  188 for two wickets in 63.2 overs in the first two days of the Test.

Earlier, Pakistan had scored 161 runs losing two wickets with Babar unbeaten on 60 alongside Azhar Ali 36 not out at tea on day one against hosts before bad light stopped the day's play. Meanwhile, Taijul Islam picked up two wickets of Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique.

Pakistan lead the two-Test series 1-0 after winning the first encounter in Chittagong by eight wickets.
