Bangladesh national cricket team will be quarantined for one day prior to the T20 World Cup 2021, which will begin on October 17 in Oman and the United Arab Emirates, respectively.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashis Chowdhury confirmed the matter to the media on Thursday (September 23).

"From the information, we have so far, we must take corona negative test report, everyone has to get vaccinated. Then, we will undergo a 24-hour quarantine period as far as we know,” he said.

Debashish also said each participating team has to observe 6 days of quarantine in the main phase of the World Cup.

"We have information that the ICC has initiated for the 6-day quarantine to everyone. Teams inside the bubble won’t have to observe the quarantine if they use a chartered flight. However, we have not yet received the full instructions,” he added.

Bangladesh have to play the qualifiers before they get the ticket to the main event. The Tigers will have to either win the group or at least manage to be runners-up in order to make it through the first round.

Bangladesh will start their T20 World Cup Qualifiers campaign against Scotland. The match will be played at the Oman Cricket Academy ground in Muscat on October 17. Then, Tigers will face Oman and Papua New Guinea on October 19 and 21 respectively.
