The T20 World Cup will be held in India in October-November this year as Australia will come to Bangladesh in the last week of July or the first week of August to play the T20 series as a preparation tour. According to the schedule, there will be a three-match T20 series but two more matches could be added.

If the cricket boards of the two countries reach an agreement, the series could be five matches instead of three. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) head of cricket management, Akram Khan confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday.

“We have come a long way in negotiating with Australia. We are going to play three T20s, but we have requested for two more,”

“They [Cricket Australia] are taking time, they will let us know very soon. But by the grace of Allah if everything is right. If we have a good situation with Covid, they will come here and play this series. Then New Zealand will come” said Akram.

Australia will arrive to Bangladesh in late July or early August after the series against the West Indies. Then New Zealand will set foot in Bangladesh in the same month.

However, according to the schedule, New Zealand was scheduled to visit Bangladesh in late July to play a three-match T20I series. After that, Australia were supposed to come to Bangladesh to play an equal number of matches. However, due to the change of plan, Australia is coming to Bangladesh before New Zealand.
