Bangladesh climb to second spot of Super League standing

Bangladesh moved up to the second spot in the World Cup Super League standings after clean sweep Windies in the 3-match ODI series. They bagged the whole 30 points are just 10 points away from the toppers Australia as Tigers entered in Super League with this series. England in the third position. However, the English are sharing equal points to Bangladesh but the Tigers are ahead in terms of net run rate.

Australia and England have played 6 matches each in the ODI Super League, which started in the middle of last year. Aussie has won four of the 6 matches. And the English, who have played 6 matches, have won three games. Ireland have won just one of their last five matches, they won against the England last year. Pakistan, Zimbabwe, India and West Indies have played three matches each.

Pakistan are in fourth position in the points table with 20 points. Afghanistan, in the top five with 20 points won both of their matches defeating Ireland. Despite winning one of the three matches, India are in eight with 9 points. The West Indies have no points. Meanwhile, South Africa, Netherlands, Sri Lanka and New Zealand have not played in the ODI Super League so far.

The teams will get a chance in the 2023 World Cup based on the points of the Super League and will play the World Cup directly. Apart from India, the top seven teams will directly participate in the World Cup. The rest of the teams will come through the World Cup qualifiers.
