After being thumped by the Dhaka Dynamites, Comilla skipper,
Tamim Iqbal was disappointed with the result, but refused to blame anyone. The
Victorians were the best team of the group stages, topping the table with 18
points, but were desecrated by the Dynamites.
A Shahid Afridi-inspired Dhaka scored 191 runs in their 20
overs. In response, the Comilla Victorians fell like a house of cards against a
tornado as Afridi’s magic spell of 3 for 16 dismantled the Dynamites for a mere
96 runs.
“I believed that we could chase 192,” said Tamim before
adding, “It is not that nobody has chased that before.
“However, our start to the chase wasn’t right, losing 3-4
wickets within the first 3 overs always makes it more difficult.”
However, the captain refused to blame anyone for the
performance, but also stated that he wasn’t happy with the performance,
especially after the way they have been playing in the tournament before the
play-offs.
“This was a bad day for us. After the way we have been playing
in this tournament, this type of performance renders me speechless.
“However, I won’t blame anyone.”
It is not all over for the Victorians as they have another
shot at the final. On Sunday, the Victorians will take on the Rangpur Riders in
the second eliminator – the winner of which will qualify for the final.
