Quinton De Kock smacks 16th ODI ton, breaks record of MS Dhoni

South Africa's wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock has surpassed 10,000 international runs with the 120-run knock in the third One-Day International against Ireland. With this achievement, he set a new record for the youngest wicketkeeper to complete 10,000 international runs.


Earlier the record was held by former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The wicket-keeper batsman took 30 years and 99 days, while it took de Kock just 28 years and 211 days to go past the 10000 runs mark.

The left-hander took 259 innings to reach 10,000 runs, while former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist took 272 innings. While Dhoni, needed 293 innings to accomplish the feat.


Janneman Malan batted with de Kock at the top, both made hundreds and fifth-highest opening stand for South Africa. Malan’s 177 not out was his highest score, while de Kock's was his 16th and first since February of last year.


It was proteas first stand with more than 200 runs since the year 2000. It was the first century-opening stand since the World Cup in 2019.
