Zimbabwe announce Test squad without Brendan and Ervine

Zimbabwe announced a 15-member squad for their two-Test series against Afghanistan starting from March 2 in Abu Dhabi. However, experienced wicket-keeper batsman Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine have been missed out from the upcoming series.
Brendan and Craig Ervine were unable to attend the series training camp against Afghanistan due to illness, regarding the issue the Zimbabwe Cricket Board did not consider them for the Test series.
Top order batsman Tarisai Musakanda has got a place in the Test squad again after 2017, who played the last Test against Sri Lanka. The top-order batsman has recently done well in Zimbabwe's domestic cricket. He also played innings of 111 and 125.

Sean Williams would captain the team for the series. Besides, wicketkeeper Regis Chakbva, all-rounder Sikander Raja and Brandon Mavuta are in the team. Wesley Madhevere, who is awaiting his debut, has also been included in the squad.

Apart from Taylor and Ervine, other notable absentees from the Test squad include Tendai Chatara, Chamu Chibhabha and Peter Moor, who are yet to recover from their right upper-arm, thigh muscle and hamstring injuries.
Zimbabwe and Afghanistan will lock horns in the first Test match on March 2, followed by the second from March 10. The series then moves on to the three T20Is from March 17 onwards. All five matches will be held in Abu Dhabi.
