Bangladesh Cricket Board is unlikely to renew the contract of their bowling coach Courtney Walsh that expired with the ongoing World Cup.

BCB sourced confirmed board high-up who had sat down in a meeting recently in London decided not to renew the contract of Walsh as they are not happy with his performance.

In 2016 when Heath Streak left the job of the bowling coach of Bangladesh. West Indian Courtney Walsh was given the charge of Bangladesh pace bowling. According to his contract, he was to coach Bangladesh team till this world cup

Walsh has coached Bangladesh for two years and 10 months. Mashrafe bin Mortaza took retirement from t20 under him and Bangladesh also played the champions trophy semifinal under this Carribean. but his greatest test was the 2019 World cup.

Before this pace bowlers didn’t perform up to the standard so Walsh had to climb a mountain in this World cup. But as Bangladesh perform poorly, the performance of the pacers was ever poorer.

so, his failure in this task may become his last task for the Tigers. BCB is not thinking about extending his contract anymore after this. about this Cricket Operation Committee Chairman Akram Khan said," On July 22 we will decide about the coaching staffs,"

But the chances are Bangladesh won’t extend their contract with this Caribbean. Sources said he took goodbye from the players after the Pakistan match.

From September 2016, Walsh had been with the Tigers for 34 months. They have gone through thick and through over this time. But a colorless World Cup performance may have ended his era.

In World cup, Bangladesh pacers have taken 39 wickets. Among these only two wickets came in the first power play. In the last 10 overs, Bangladesh was most successful. Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman wreaked havoc among the opposition. Bangladesh took 25 wickets in the last 10 overs. And in middle 30 overs, they took 12 wickets.

Walsh may have expected a bit more from his apprentices. Skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza took just one wicket in this World cup. His bowling average is 361. Rubel Hossain played two matches and took just one wicket.

But Walsh may have been satisfied with the performance of Mustafizur and Saifuddin. Mustafizur took 20 wickets in eight matches and Saifuddin took 13. These two pacers bowled well over this world cup edition.

After Courtney Walsh took charge of Bangladesh’s bowling, Bangladesh even played with just one pacer. In Test cricket, 11 pacers played under him. In this format, they all just took 68 wickets among themselves. That’s not satisfactory by any means. Among these 11 pacers, Mustafizur Rahman took 24 wickets, who just played 11 Test matches.

In second there is Abu Jayed Rahi. Who played five test matches and took 11 wickets in those. Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Shuvashish Rai, and Taskin Ahmed have also played under him. They took 20 wickets altogether. The surprising fact is that Rubel Hossain just played two test matches under Walsh. Khaled Ahmed and Ebadat Hossain also failed to shine under Walsh.

In ODI’s Mustafizur Rahman is the most successful bowler of Bangladesh. He took 77 wickets in 45 matches. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is on the second spot with 62 wickets from 57 matches.

Rubel gathered 37 wickets from 32 matches. Taskin and Saifuddin both picked up 24 wickets. Just before the World Cup Abu Jayed Rahi clichéd five wickets against Ireland but Bangladesh didn’t play him in the World cup.

But it was said that Abu Jayed was picked regarding the English condition. In ODI format, all the pacers took 238 wickets under Walsh. Abu Haider Rony, Soumya Sarkar, and Ariful Haque are also included in this stat.

Mashrafe retired from T20 cricket for two years now. Under Walsh, he just took four wickets in five matches. Mustafiz is top in this format also he took 26 wickets in 17 matches.

Rubel is second, he took 21 wickets in 16 matches. Saifuddin is third with just five wickets. Abu Jayed is fourth with four wickets. Under Walsh 11 pacers played in this format. Shafiul Islam was wicketless in the Walsh era. Pacers took 73 wickets under him in the T20’s.
