Abdur Razzak, after a set of amazing performances in the domestic circuit, got back into contention for a national call-up. Earlier this year, he became the first Bangladeshi bowler to bag 500 wickets in first-class cricket. Although he was included in the squad during the 1^st Test against Sri Lanka in Chittagong, the left-arm spinner could not make it to the playing XI at that time.

With Shakib Al Hasan being absent, Sunzamul Islam had been chosen over Razzak in the previous Test. Sunzamul could not impress much on his debut, as a result, the 35-year-old spinner entered the playing XI for the decider of a 2-Test series.

Abdur Razzak had enough up his sleeve to destroy the Sri Lanka batting order. He took a four-fer against the island nation in the 1^st innings by claiming four among the first five wickets on Thursday. The veteran spinner has 200+ ODI wicket to his name.

Before the ongoing Test at Mirpur, Razzak played his last Test against the same team exactly four years ago. He has missed 22 Tests since 8^th February 2014. There are five more Bangladeshi players who had to wait longer than that to get recalled into the national Test-side.

Nazmul Hossain stands on top as he waited for seven long years and missed 38 Tests to get back into the Test team. Razzak’s name on this list is followed by the likes of Mohammad Sharif (missed 24 Tests), Sajedul Islam (missed 27 Tests), Shahriar Hossain (missed 25 Tests), and Tushar Imran (missed 23 Tests).
