The Bangladeshi all-rounder’s brilliance came after opener Amir Jangoo’s steady 56 off 43, with Fabian Allen (38* off 17) providing the finishing kick. Falcons looked in control at the halfway stage, thanks largely to Shakib’s fearless assault in the middle overs.
However, the night belonged to Seifert. The New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter delivered one of the great CPL knocks, smashing an unbeaten 125 off 53 balls at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 235.84. His innings, studded with 10 fours and 9 sixes, single-handedly dismantled the Falcons’ bowling attack, ably supported by quick cameos from Johnson Charles (17 off 9) and Tim David (23 off 16).
The Falcons’ bowlers found no answers, with Shakib himself conceding 32 runs in two expensive overs.
