According to an official statement from the BCCI, "Due to a power outage in the area, one of the light towers at the HPCA stadium malfunctioned. BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees."
PBKS, having won the toss and chosen to bat, had gotten off to a flying start. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh shared a century partnership before Arya was dismissed for a blistering 70 off 34 balls by T Natarajan.

Play came to a halt at 9:29 PM IST when three floodlight towers shut down, and despite efforts to restore power, the match was officially abandoned around 11 minutes later.

Earlier in the evening, the match had already faced a delay due to rain, with the toss occurring at 8:15 PM IST instead of the scheduled 7:00 PM. The game eventually began at 8:30 PM without any overs lost.
In light of the technical challenges, PBKS' upcoming home fixture against Mumbai Indians has now been shifted from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad.
