Bangladesh ‘A’ have had a mixed start to the Top End T20 Series in Darwin as Nurul Hasan Sohan’s men fell short in their tournament opener, suffering a 79-run defeat against Pakistan. They bounced back in the second fixture with a 32-run win over Nepal but stumbled again in their third outing, going down by five wickets to Perth Scorchers.

With two losses in three matches, Bangladesh ‘A’ now find themselves trailing in the points table. The remaining three games have become must-win encounters if they are to secure a semifinal berth. Head coach Mizanur Rahman Babul, however, remains optimistic about his side’s mindset and preparation.

The coach also reflected on the variation in pitches and conditions.

“Yesterday’s wicket was different from what we usually get. Matches like these are not just about winning, but also about learning and growth. These boys will eventually play for the national team, and this experience will help them.”

Babul believes such tournaments offer valuable opportunities for players like Naim Sheikh and Afif Hossain to adapt better in the future.
“They are playing in different environments, on different wickets, and adjusting to varied weather. These are gains. Next time, when they face similar conditions, they’ll know how the wicket behaves and how to approach it. Maybe this time it took us a little longer to adjust,” he explained.
Bangladesh ‘A’ still have three games in hand. To keep their semifinal hopes alive, Sohan’s men will need to put in strong performances and collect full points in the upcoming matches.
