Bangladesh A had already secured the three-match unofficial ODI series with back-to-back wins in the first two games. With the series result sealed, several key players were rested for the third and final match in Sylhet. However, a below-par batting display saw the hosts fall short, allowing New Zealand A to claim a four-wicket win — their first of the tour.

Bangladesh A made sweeping changes to their XI, resting Parvez Hossain Emon, Mahidul Ankon, Shamim Hossain Patwary, Khaled Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Rejaur Rahman Raja, and Tanvir Islam. Despite the reshuffle, it was left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed who shone brightest — not with the ball, but the bat. Nasum hit his maiden List A half-century, scoring a team-high 67 off 97 deliveries, including nine fours and a six. Yasir Ali supported with 63, while Saif Hassan chipped in with 31. However, the rest of the batting lineup faltered, and Bangladesh A were bowled out for 226. For the visitors, Adithya Ashok bagged three wickets, while Dean Foxcroft, Jayden Lennox, and Ben Lister took two apiece.

Chasing a modest target on the Sylhet International Stadium pitch, New Zealand A began strongly with a 77-run opening stand between Rhys Mariu and Dale Phillips. Nasum broke the partnership by removing Mariu for 33, and Phillips followed soon after for 34. The hosts sparked a mini-collapse, reducing the Kiwis to 166/6.

However, Dean Foxcroft and Zakary Foulkes held firm. The duo stitched together an unbeaten partnership, with Foxcroft scoring 36* and Foulkes 28*, guiding their side home with 10 balls to spare. Nasum, Nayeem Hasan, and Mosaddek Hossain picked up two wickets each, but their efforts weren’t enough. Foxcroft was named Player of the Match.

With the ODI series wrapped up 2–1 in favour of Bangladesh A, attention now turns to the red-ball leg of the tour. The first of two four-day matches is scheduled to begin on May 14 in Sylhet, while the second will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur starting May 21.
