Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Akram Khan believes that allowing Mustafizur Rahman to play a full season of the IPL instead of the Zimbabwe series would be more beneficial for the left-handed pacer and the Bangladesh cricket team in the T20 World Cup.

Mustafiz has been in stellar form during the ongoing IPL, having claimed 10 wickets in five matches and currently holding the third position in the list of highest wicket-takers of the tournament.

Akram stated that Mustafizur should be given the opportunity to play for CSK, as it would contribute to his personal growth and development as a cricketer.

“If you can use players like Mustafiz, then they will give 100%. That's what Dhoni’s team (CSK) is doing. You see, the way he bowled against Kolkata. To tell the truth, the more matches he plays for Chennai, he will benefit personally and Bangladesh will also be benefited. He can learn a great deal by playing there compared to participating in the Zimbabwe series,"

"The dynamics of the dressing room, competing alongside top players, encountering diverse pitches, and facing off against high-quality opponents all contribute to his development. I believe he deserves the opportunity," said Akram.

Akram also advised the board to consider extending the period of Mustafiz's no-objection letter.

“We were worried about Mustafiz's performance. Because he had been struggling for the past one year. But his performance is getting better after playing in IPL. Since he does not play in the longer version, if he continues to do well in the IPL, we will benefit more in the World Cup. The board can think about this. Still, it depends on the team staff, and the selectors who are there to think. But what he is doing well is good for Bangladesh," he added.
