Dhiraj Malhotra, the CEO of Delhi Capitals has replaced Saba Karim to become the new General Manager for Game Development of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Malhotra, who was earlier associated with International Cricket Council (ICC) in senior positions, has an experience of more than two-decade in the cricketing industry and he has the responsibility of overseeing cricket operations of various ICC events as well.

"Yes, Dhiraj Malhotra has been formally appointed as GM (Game Development). He will be joining from Monday, February 15," a senior BCCI source said to PTI on Friday. Meanwhile, Saba Karim's three year stint with the BCCI has already ended last month after being on the notice period for six months.

According to the BCCI website, the GM (Game Development) "will be responsible for determining and monitoring the match playing regulations, standards of venues, including pitches and outfields besides administration of the Domestic Tours Programme."

However, The members are hopeful that Dhiraj Malhotra's inclusion will be helpful for them as his extensive work in ICC operations, as well as the Chief Executive of Delhi Capitals team, will be useful here as well.

"Dhiraj's joining Delhi franchise coincided with two of their best seasons, including a play-offs and second-place finish. Also when he was with DC, he was asked to help out at the ICC World Cup in England due to his vast knowledge," the source further shared.

As far as the current international series is concerned, India men's team have been taking on England where they will play a full-fledged series. On the other hand, India Women's Team will begin their campaign against South Africa next month in the post-COVID-19 era.
